Audio to Sheet Music: Piano ("the App") is published by Bulpara Inc ("we", "us", "our"). The short version: your recording is sent to our server and transcribed by our processor, Replicate. It's deleted as soon as the transcription finishes. The finished score is kept on our server for 30 days so you can download it, and on your device until you delete it. We never train on your recordings. There is no account, and no ads, analytics or tracking.
1. Recordings
With your permission, the App records through your microphone while you are recording a piece. When you choose to transcribe a recording, or a file you import or share to the App, the App uploads it to our server's private file storage together with the title you gave it.
- Purpose: only to turn it into sheet music. We don't listen to recordings, and we don't use them to train or improve any model.
- Processing: Replicate, Inc. runs our transcription model on the recording on our behalf.
- Retention: the recording is deleted from our storage as soon as the transcription finishes, whether it succeeded, failed or was cancelled.
A recording may pick up voices or other sounds in the room. The App only listens for piano, but please avoid recording conversations.
2. Scores
The finished score (MusicXML and MIDI files), and a record of the job (its title, status, key, time signature and tempo), are kept on our server for 30 days so your device can download them, then deleted automatically. The App saves the score on your device, where it stays until you delete it. Settings → Delete my uploads deletes the server copies straight away.
3. Data stored on your device
- Your scores, their recordings and their titles.
- Preferences, a count of free previews used, whether you have Premium, and a random ID the App creates (see section 4).
Deleting a score deletes it from your device. Deleting the App deletes all of it.
4. Free previews and subscriptions
To give each device its 3 free previews, the App sends a token from Apple's DeviceCheck service, which lets Apple store a small count for our App on your device, together with a random ID the App created. Where DeviceCheck isn't available, our server keeps the count against that random ID instead. Neither identifies you.
If you subscribe, the App sends the App Store's signed record of your subscription so our server can confirm it and count pieces against the monthly fair-use limit. The count is kept against a one-way hash of the subscription's ID. Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple; we never see your name, Apple ID or payment details.
5. Notifications
If you allow notifications, the App sends its Apple push token with each transcription so our server can tell you when the score is ready. It's stored with that job and deleted with it.
6. Who processes your data
- Replicate runs the transcription.
- Cloudflare stores recordings until they are transcribed, and scores for 30 days.
- Our server host runs the server that handles the App's requests.
- Apple provides DeviceCheck, push notifications and App Store purchases.
They process data only to provide those services to us. Data may be processed in the United States and other countries. Like any server, ours sees your IP address when the App connects; it uses it only to limit request rates and doesn't store it with your recordings or scores.
7. No analytics, ads or tracking
The App contains no analytics, advertising SDKs, crash reporters or third-party trackers, and shows no ads. We don't track you across apps or websites, and we don't sell or share your data.
8. Children
The App asks for no names, email addresses or accounts, and it is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child's recording or score is on our server, email us and we'll delete it.
9. Your choices
You can delete scores on your device at any time, delete the server copies in Settings → Delete my uploads, turn off notifications in iPhone Settings, or email us to ask about or delete any data we hold.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
