Play it. See it on the page.

Record a piano piece on your iPhone, or import one, and get the sheet music back: both hands, bar lines, key and tempo. Play it along with a cursor, then export it as PDF, MIDI or MusicXML.

Before and after

A real example, not a mock-up: a phone-quality recording, and the score the app made from it.

Before · the recording

Bach, Prelude in C major (BWV 846), the first 20 seconds. A phone-quality copy of Kimiko Ishizaka's recording from the Open Well-Tempered Clavier (CC0).

After · the score Sheet music for the first four bars of Bach's Prelude in C, transcribed by the app: treble and bass staves in 4/4 at crotchet = 55.

The first four bars of the score the app returned for that recording, unedited apart from the title.

How clean the score comes out depends on the recording and the piece. Steady playing in a quiet room reads best. Very free tempos and busy, syncopated left hands come out harder to read; when a full score is too busy, Simplify shows the melody with chord symbols instead.

What it does

🎙 Record or import

Record in the app, import an MP3, M4A or WAV file, or share a recording straight from Voice Memos. Pieces up to 10 minutes.

🎚 Checks the recording

A level meter warns you while you play if the sound is clipping, too quiet or silent, with tips on where to put the phone.

🎼 A real score

Notes on a grand staff with bar lines, time signature, key and tempo, split between the hands. Not a piano roll.

▶️ Play along

Play the score back with a cursor that follows the notes, and slow it down to practise.

📤 Export

PDF to print, MIDI for any music app, MusicXML to edit in MuseScore, Flat or Finale.

🔔 Tells you when it's ready

Transcription usually takes 1–5 minutes. Leave the app; a notification tells you when the score is ready.

How it works

  1. Record. Phone on the music stand, 1–2 m from the strings, quiet room. Or import a file you already have.
  2. Transcribe. The recording is sent to our server and transcribed by our piano transcription model. It's deleted as soon as the score is made.
  3. Read, play, export. The score is saved on your iPhone. Rename it, play it, switch to Simplify, or export it.

It's made for solo piano. Singing, other instruments or music playing in the room will confuse it.

Pricing

Free

3 previews

Each one transcribes the first 30 seconds of a piece, with the score and playback. A transcription that fails doesn't use one.

Premium

$39.99/year

Or $6.99 a month. Full pieces up to 10 minutes, and PDF, MIDI and MusicXML export. No tokens and no per-piece fees. The annual plan starts with a 7-day free trial.

Premium includes up to 60 pieces a month, a fair-use limit.

Your recordings

Your recording is deleted from our server as soon as it's transcribed. The finished score is kept there for 30 days so your iPhone can download it, and stays on your iPhone until you delete it. You can delete the server copies at any time in Settings. We never train on your recordings. No account, no ads, no tracking. Privacy policy.
